“The 39 Steps” on Broadway starts tonight!
The Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of the Olivier Award-winning Hitchcockian thriller The 39 Steps arrives on Broadway Jan. 4 at the American Airlines Theatre. The previews start today with the official opening night on January 15!
This is Jennifer Ferrin’s debut on Broadway and what a great way to start! She has a major role in a play that is getting terrific buzz as one of the hot plays for 2008! It has been hugely successful in London, won an Olivier Award, similar to our Tony, and had a very successful run in Boston during the fall.
If you get a chance to go, be sure to do that! Don’t wait too long as it is a limited engagement until March 23. And if you do get a chance to go, please post here about what you thought about the play. Please spread the word!
The picture here is from the Boston production and is Jennifer along with Charles Edwards, who was also in the London production and is courtesy of Charles Erickson and the Huntington Theatre.
The 39 Steps was originally presented onstage by North Country Theatre in April 1996 at the Georgian Theatre, Richmond, North Yorkshire. The show played London’s Tricycle Theatre in 2006 and then transferred to the West End’s Criterion Theatre and earned the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
Tickets to The 39 Steps at the American Airlines Theatre, 227 West 42nd Street, are available by calling (212) 719-1300 or by visiting roundabouttheatre.org.
