The New York Times has a terrific slide show in their theater section entitled Lens: ‘The 39 Steps.’ There are some terrific photographs by Sara Krulwich taken behind the scenes at the Broadway play. They show quick costume changes like the picture here of Jennifer getting a quick wig change. It shows how they do some of the shadow puppets and even Jennifer Ferrin peaking out at the audience at the intermission. Really fun photos! Check it out HERE!

JenniferFerrinFan <![CDATA[As the World Turns Connection for Opening Night of ‘The 39 Steps.”]]> /blog/?p=30 2008-01-27T20:54:33Z 2008-01-20T19:25:44Z Margaret Colin arrives at opening night for “The 39 Steps.”In attendance at the opening night of The 39 Steps, was Margaret Colin, pictured on the left, as she arrived at the theater. Margaret played the role of Margo Montgomery Hughes on As the World Turns from 1981 to 1983. Not only was that well before Jennifer Ferrin’s time on the show, but Jennifer’s character, Jennifer Munson would not be born until 1990 either. (Yes she was rapidly aged as so often happens on soaps.) No word yet if any of the current cast of As the World Turns has attended yet to see their former costar Jennifer Ferrin in her Broadway debut. My guess is some of them will attend if they haven’t already.

Word of Mouth Panel

Broadway.com talks to real theatergoers to find out what they think is hot and what is not. Click ~HERE~ to watch a video to hear what Hillary, Matt and Kathleen have to say about The 39 Steps, as well as see some great clips. Just a little hint; you won’t be disappointed!

A little about the real theatergoers:

  • Hillary, 57 is a high school guidance counselor. Hillary heard the word “Hitchcock” and assumed The 39 Steps was a dark thriller. Boy, was she in for a surprise!
  • Matt, 27 is a graphic designer. A fan of big blockbusters like Young Frankenstein and The Lion King, Matt had never seen a small cast of actors play so many parts.
  • Kathleen, 46 is a legal administrative assistant. A big fan of Hitchcock films including The 39 Steps, Kathleen was excited to see how the stage adaptation played out.

Be sure to check out Word of Mouth on The 39 Steps! You won’t be disappointed!

JenniferFerrinFan <![CDATA[Reviews of ‘The 39 Steps’ are in!]]> /blog/?p=24 2008-01-16T18:54:54Z 2008-01-16T17:45:29Z The reviews have started and here are some of my favorite things being said about Jennifer Ferrin in The 39 Steps!

Similarly, Ferrin — a former Daytime Emmy nominee for her work on As The World Turns — has been styled as an almost perfect reincarnation of Madeleine Carroll, who played Pamela. More importantly, she so deftly distinguishes all three of her characters, you might not realize they’re being played by the same actress. Theatermania

Jennifer Ferrin plays the three very different female roles, and she’s excellent in each. Philadelphia Inquirer

You’ll find these and more in The 39 Steps Broadway Reviews. I’ll be adding more as they are published!

JenniferFerrinFan <![CDATA[‘The 39 Steps’ Officially Opens Tonight!]]> /blog/?p=23 2008-01-15T21:54:44Z 2008-01-15T21:54:44Z The previews are over and the official opening night is tonight! I’m sure all Jennifer Ferrin fans are sending lots of good wishes to Jennifer and hoping this is a tremendous success for her. I know I certainly am! Here’s hoping this becomes the tremendous hit it was in London.

As soon as the reviews come out, I will be setting up a page to track them, so check back in the next few days as they come out. Attendance for the previews has been decent despite this being the time of the year when Broadway is in a bit of a slump post holidays.

So far there have been some comments posted at Broadway World along with a review by one of the posters. One of my favorite comments was “The remarkably hard-working 4 member cast is quite good, and once again proves why the Tony committee needs to institute a “Best Ensemble” award. There’s no point in singling any one of them out. Collectively, they’re some of the most brilliant farceurs I’ve ever seen…” You can read more of the comments HERE.

Good luck Jennifer! Your fans are pulling for you and hoping this is a huge success!
